# The Elder Scrolls Map vs Guiding Ring

The clearest difference is monetization model: The Elder Scrolls Map at free with in-app purchases against Guiding Ring's subscription. The Elder Scrolls Map also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.2) and review sentiment (68% vs 58%). Guiding Ring's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks) and iOS requirement (14.5 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Elder Scrolls Map sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 3 months and Guiding Ring sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Elder Scrolls Map holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Elder Scrolls Map has 1.2K ratings behind it against 207, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 68% of The Elder Scrolls Map's written reviews are positive against 58% of Guiding Ring's.

The Elder Scrolls Map ships an update every 2 weeks, Guiding Ring every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
