# Purple Tides vs Hypsee

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Hypsee at none against Purple Tides's 9. Hypsee also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 80%). Purple Tides's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (134 vs 8). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Purple Tides sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Hypsee asks for nothing beyond the download.

Purple Tides holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Purple Tides has 134 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Purple Tides's written reviews are positive against 100% of Hypsee's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Purple Tides ships an update weekly, Hypsee every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
