# Willow® vs Aqua

The clearest difference is rating: Willow® at 4.5 against Aqua's 2.8. Willow® also leads on ratings volume (2.8K vs 74) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). Aqua's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Willow® holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Willow® has 2.8K ratings behind it against 74, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 13% of Willow®'s written reviews are positive against 30% of Aqua's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Willow® ships an update monthly, Aqua every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
