# S vs BCC Text

S and BCC Text both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of S's written reviews are positive against 71% of BCC Text's. S also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). BCC Text's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (154 vs 5). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. S sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and BCC Text sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for S against 4.3 for BCC Text. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BCC Text has 154 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of S's written reviews are positive against 71% of BCC Text's.

S ships an update every 2 months, BCC Text every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
