# THE GUIDE vs Devmaxx

The clearest difference is rating: Devmaxx at 4.3 against THE GUIDE's 2.7. Devmaxx also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (528 vs 22). THE GUIDE's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.5). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. THE GUIDE sells 23 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Devmaxx sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Devmaxx holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Devmaxx has 528 ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of THE GUIDE's written reviews are positive against 16% of Devmaxx's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

THE GUIDE ships an update every 2 months, Devmaxx every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
