# MeterToken vs Textplug

The clearest difference is ads: Textplug at none against MeterToken's shown. Textplug also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 124). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Textplug holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Textplug has 1.5K ratings behind it against 124, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of MeterToken's written reviews are positive against 21% of Textplug's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MeterToken ships an update monthly, Textplug every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
