# Slingshot vs Data Transfer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Data Transfer at 52% against Slingshot's 9%. Data Transfer also leads on ratings volume (316 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). Slingshot's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 3.8) and ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Slingshot holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Data Transfer has 316 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 9% of Slingshot's written reviews are positive against 52% of Data Transfer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Slingshot ships an update every 3 weeks, Data Transfer every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
