# Discovery Cove vs APP

The clearest difference is monetization model: APP at free against Discovery Cove's free with in-app purchases. Discovery Cove's advantage is ratings volume (2K vs 5) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Discovery Cove against 4.8 for APP. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Discovery Cove has 2K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Discovery Cove ships an update every 3 weeks, APP every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
