# Clear Scanner vs Chat PDF

The clearest difference is rating: Chat PDF at 5.0 against Clear Scanner's 4.4. Chat PDF also leads on iOS requirement (13.4 vs 15.6). Clear Scanner's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 12 months) and ratings volume (91 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Clear Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Chat PDF sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chat PDF holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Clear Scanner has 91 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Clear Scanner ships an update every 3 weeks, Chat PDF every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
