# Mistero VPN vs SecStream VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: SecStream VPN at free with in-app purchases against Mistero VPN's subscription. SecStream VPN also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4). Mistero VPN's advantage is review sentiment (75% vs 60%) and chart position (#195 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mistero VPN sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and SecStream VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SecStream VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mistero VPN has 1.1K ratings behind it against 204, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Mistero VPN's written reviews are positive against 60% of SecStream VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mistero VPN ships an update every 2 weeks, SecStream VPN fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
