# Depict vs Voice Notes

The clearest difference is update cadence: Depict at every 5 days against Voice Notes's every 4 months. Depict also leads on review sentiment (75% vs 60%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Voice Notes's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (4.3 vs 4.1). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Depict sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Voice Notes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Voice Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 11 and 9 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Depict's written reviews are positive against 60% of Voice Notes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Depict ships an update every 5 days, Voice Notes every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
