# SAM vs Nuva

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SAM at none against Nuva's 6. SAM also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.1). Nuva's advantage is ratings volume (21 vs 2). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nuva sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $7.59 per month. SAM asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for SAM against 5.0 for Nuva. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nuva has 21 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SAM ships an update every 11 days, Nuva weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
