# قلم vs Qalam

The clearest difference is rating: Qalam at 5.0 against قلم's 3.4. Qalam also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). قلم's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Qalam sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. قلم asks for nothing beyond the download.

Qalam holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: قلم has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

قلم ships an update every 2 months, Qalam fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
