# Split PDF vs PDF Merge

The clearest difference is rating: PDF Merge at 4.6 against Split PDF's 4.1. PDF Merge also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). Split PDF's advantage is review sentiment (14% vs 0%) and ratings volume (38 vs 11). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Split PDF sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and PDF Merge sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Merge holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 38 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Split PDF's written reviews are positive against 0% of PDF Merge's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Split PDF ships an update every 2 months, PDF Merge weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
