# Specialized vs Lodestar

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Specialized at none against Lodestar's 2. Specialized also leads on ratings volume (12K vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). Lodestar's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lodestar sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Specialized asks for nothing beyond the download.

Lodestar holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Specialized has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
