# Train Simulator vs Subtransit Drive

The clearest difference is ads: Subtransit Drive at none against Train Simulator's shown. Train Simulator's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (5.3K vs 423). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Train Simulator sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Subtransit Drive sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Train Simulator holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Train Simulator has 5.3K ratings behind it against 423, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Train Simulator's written reviews are positive against 70% of Subtransit Drive's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Train Simulator ships an update every 2 months, Subtransit Drive monthly. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
