# Train Simulator vs Subway Train Simulator

The clearest difference is rating: Train Simulator at 4.7 against Subway Train Simulator's 4.3. Train Simulator also leads on ratings volume (5.3K vs 245). Subway Train Simulator's advantage is review sentiment (84% vs 64%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Train Simulator sells 14 one-off in-app purchases and Subway Train Simulator sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Train Simulator holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Train Simulator has 5.3K ratings behind it against 245, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Train Simulator's written reviews are positive against 84% of Subway Train Simulator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Train Simulator ships an update every 2 months, Subway Train Simulator every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
