# Masterbuilt vs Pit Boss Grills

The clearest difference is rating: Masterbuilt at 4.7 against Pit Boss Grills's 4.0. Masterbuilt also leads on ratings volume (12K vs 2.4K). Pit Boss Grills's advantage is review sentiment (52% vs 13%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Masterbuilt holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Masterbuilt has 12K ratings behind it against 2.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 13% of Masterbuilt's written reviews are positive against 52% of Pit Boss Grills's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Masterbuilt ships an update every 3 months, Pit Boss Grills monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
