# The Data Channel vs Machine Learning for Beginners

The clearest difference is monetization model: Machine Learning for Beginners at free with in-app purchases against The Data Channel's subscription. The Data Channel's advantage is device support (4 vs 2) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Data Channel sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Machine Learning for Beginners sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Data Channel ships an update every 6 weeks, Machine Learning for Beginners every 2 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
