# Family Tree* vs TechniColorLighting

The clearest difference is rating: Family Tree* at 4.6 against TechniColorLighting's 2.7. Family Tree* also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (7.1K vs 3). TechniColorLighting's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (50% vs 37%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Family Tree* sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. TechniColorLighting asks for nothing beyond the download.

Family Tree* holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Family Tree* has 7.1K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 37% of Family Tree*'s written reviews are positive against 50% of TechniColorLighting's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Family Tree* ships an update every 10 days, TechniColorLighting every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
