# Eden vs Self

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Self at none against Eden's 4. Self also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and review sentiment (100% vs 89%). Eden's advantage is ratings volume (4K vs 7). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Eden sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Self asks for nothing beyond the download.

Self holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Eden has 4K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 89% of Eden's written reviews are positive against 100% of Self's.

Eden ships an update every 10 days, Self every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
