# MaxButton vs Focus Timer

The clearest difference is price: Focus Timer at Free against MaxButton's $2.99. Focus Timer also leads on rating (4.6 vs 1.0) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). MaxButton's advantage is device support (4 vs 2). On update cadence, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Focus Timer is free to download; MaxButton costs $2.99 up front. MaxButton sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Focus Timer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Focus Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focus Timer has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MaxButton ships an update fortnightly, Focus Timer every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 22, 2026 respectively.
