# Persnickety's vs Simple Modern

The clearest difference is monetization model: Persnickety's at free against Simple Modern's free with in-app purchases. Persnickety's also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). Simple Modern's advantage is ratings volume (1.3K vs 5) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Persnickety's against 4.9 for Simple Modern. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simple Modern has 1.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Persnickety's ships an update monthly, Simple Modern every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
