# Fontmaker vs Custom Font Maker Keyboard

The clearest difference is update cadence: Fontmaker at every 9 days against Custom Font Maker Keyboard's every 6 weeks. Fontmaker also leads on ratings volume (444 vs 41) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Custom Font Maker Keyboard's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 35%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fontmaker sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Custom Font Maker Keyboard sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Fontmaker holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fontmaker has 444 ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of Fontmaker's written reviews are positive against 50% of Custom Font Maker Keyboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Fontmaker ships an update every 9 days, Custom Font Maker Keyboard every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
