# Whale Widget vs ThemeBox

The clearest difference is rating: Whale Widget at 4.6 against ThemeBox's 3.6. Whale Widget also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (14.1 vs 16.0). ThemeBox's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (51% vs 40%). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Whale Widget sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and ThemeBox sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Whale Widget holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ThemeBox has 514 ratings behind it against 87, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of Whale Widget's written reviews are positive against 51% of ThemeBox's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Whale Widget ships an update every 10 days, ThemeBox every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
