# LeapVPN vs OpenAgent

The clearest difference is rating: LeapVPN at 4.7 against OpenAgent's 3.5. LeapVPN also leads on ratings volume (4.3K vs 69) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 2 months). OpenAgent's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LeapVPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. OpenAgent asks for nothing beyond the download.

LeapVPN holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LeapVPN has 4.3K ratings behind it against 69, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 62% of LeapVPN's written reviews are positive against 55% of OpenAgent's.

LeapVPN ships an update every 4 weeks, OpenAgent every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
