# Alter vs Mimelet

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Alter at none against Mimelet's 1. Alter also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 10 months) and rating (4.3 vs 3.9). Mimelet's advantage is ratings volume (94 vs 18). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mimelet sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Alter asks for nothing beyond the download.

Alter holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mimelet has 94 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Alter's written reviews are positive against 79% of Mimelet's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Alter ships an update weekly, Mimelet every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
