# OpenInYT vs Screen Recorder

OpenInYT and Screen Recorder both sit at 4.3 stars, but that hides the real split: 78% of OpenInYT's written reviews are positive against 40% of Screen Recorder's. OpenInYT also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 11). Screen Recorder's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 8 months). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Recorder sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. OpenInYT asks for nothing beyond the download.

Screen Recorder holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 41 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of OpenInYT's written reviews are positive against 40% of Screen Recorder's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OpenInYT ships an update every 8 months, Screen Recorder every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
