# CallBell vs Frequency

The clearest difference is rating: Frequency at 4.7 against CallBell's 3.5. Frequency also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 21 months) and ratings volume (340 vs 30). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Frequency holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Frequency has 340 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of CallBell's written reviews are positive against 73% of Frequency's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CallBell ships an update every 21 months, Frequency fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
