# Word Count Plus vs VPN

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Word Count Plus at none against VPN's 3. Word Count Plus also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (67% vs 34%). VPN's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (5.2K vs 2). On price there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Word Count Plus asks for nothing beyond the download.

Word Count Plus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 5.2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of Word Count Plus's written reviews are positive against 34% of VPN's.

Word Count Plus ships an update every 3 months, VPN every 10 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
