# OBC Reader vs MyNovel

The clearest difference is rating: MyNovel at 4.7 against OBC Reader's 2.8. MyNovel also leads on ratings volume (12K vs 10) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). OBC Reader's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MyNovel sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. OBC Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.

MyNovel holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MyNovel has 12K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of OBC Reader's written reviews are positive against 68% of MyNovel's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

OBC Reader ships an update every 2 months, MyNovel every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
