# uDown vs Float

The clearest difference is monetization model: Float at free with in-app purchases against uDown's subscription. Float also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (64% vs 36%). uDown's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. uDown sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month and Float sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Float holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Float has 8.9K ratings behind it against 257, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 36% of uDown's written reviews are positive against 64% of Float's.

uDown ships an update every 2 months, Float every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
