# Amigo Browser vs Private Browser

The clearest difference is monetization model: Amigo Browser at freemium against Private Browser's subscription. Amigo Browser also leads on ratings volume (80 vs 10). Private Browser's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 15 months) and rating (3.7 vs 3.4). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Amigo Browser sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Private Browser sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Private Browser holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Amigo Browser has 80 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Amigo Browser's written reviews are positive against 76% of Private Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Amigo Browser ships an update every 15 months, Private Browser every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
