# BigBearVPN vs StarSpeed

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: StarSpeed at none against BigBearVPN's 4. StarSpeed also leads on rating (3.1 vs 2.8) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). BigBearVPN's advantage is ratings volume (330 vs 19) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BigBearVPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. StarSpeed asks for nothing beyond the download.

StarSpeed holds the better App Store score, 3.1 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BigBearVPN has 330 ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 40% and 40% positive.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
