# MX Player vs Daslight Remote

The clearest difference is rating: MX Player at 4.4 against Daslight Remote's 3.7. MX Player also leads on ratings volume (14K vs 3). Daslight Remote's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 14 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MX Player holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MX Player has 14K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 16% of MX Player's written reviews are positive against 25% of Daslight Remote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MX Player ships an update every 14 months, Daslight Remote every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
