# MX Player vs Olla

The clearest difference is rating: Olla at 5.0 against MX Player's 4.4. Olla also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 14 months). MX Player's advantage is ratings volume (14K vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Olla holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MX Player has 14K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MX Player ships an update every 14 months, Olla every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
