# isitjosh vs JazzEar

The clearest difference is monetization model: JazzEar at free with in-app purchases against isitjosh's subscription. JazzEar also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 5 weeks) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.6). isitjosh's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. isitjosh sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and JazzEar sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for isitjosh against 5.0 for JazzEar. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: isitjosh has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

isitjosh ships an update every 5 weeks, JazzEar every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
