# Sonar vs FivePointFive

The clearest difference is ratings volume: FivePointFive at 5.1K against Sonar's 336. FivePointFive also leads on chart position (#90 vs unranked). Sonar's advantage is review sentiment (68% vs 58%) and iOS requirement (16.6 vs 18.6). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sonar sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and FivePointFive sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $44.99 per 3 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FivePointFive holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FivePointFive has 5.1K ratings behind it against 336, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Sonar's written reviews are positive against 58% of FivePointFive's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Sonar ships an update weekly, FivePointFive every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
