# Chereads vs Private Diary

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Private Diary at 100% against Chereads's 55%. Private Diary also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Chereads's advantage is ratings volume (1.9K vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chereads sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Private Diary sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Private Diary holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chereads has 1.9K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of Chereads's written reviews are positive against 100% of Private Diary's.

Chereads ships an update every 3 weeks, Private Diary fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
