# Timed Reader vs Offline OCR Scanner

The clearest difference is update cadence: Offline OCR Scanner at weekly against Timed Reader's monthly. Timed Reader's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Timed Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Offline OCR Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Timed Reader ships an update monthly, Offline OCR Scanner weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
