# X Clock vs Always On

The clearest difference is monetization model: X Clock at free with in-app purchases against Always On's subscription. X Clock also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.5). Always On's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks) and ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. X Clock sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Always On sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

X Clock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Always On has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

X Clock ships an update every 6 weeks, Always On every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
