# The Platform vs Skillset

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Skillset at 100% against The Platform's 50%. Skillset also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks). The Platform's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Platform holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 9 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of The Platform's written reviews are positive against 100% of Skillset's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Platform ships an update every 6 weeks, Skillset every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
