# Plant Identifier vs Identify Bugs

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Plant Identifier at 29K against Identify Bugs's 6. Plant Identifier also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and chart position (#58 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Plant Identifier sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Identify Bugs sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Identify Bugs holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Plant Identifier has 29K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Plant Identifier ships an update every 3 weeks, Identify Bugs every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
