# Farcaster vs NZ Chat

The clearest difference is review sentiment: NZ Chat at 100% against Farcaster's 51%. NZ Chat also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6). Farcaster's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 5) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.6). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Farcaster sells 16 one-off in-app purchases and NZ Chat sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NZ Chat holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Farcaster has 1.1K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 51% of Farcaster's written reviews are positive against 100% of NZ Chat's.

Farcaster ships an update every 5 days, NZ Chat every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
