# Farcaster vs Circles

The clearest difference is ads: Farcaster at none against Circles's shown. Farcaster also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 1). Circles's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Farcaster sells 16 one-off in-app purchases and Circles sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $59.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Circles holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Farcaster has 1.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
