# Farcaster vs Spells

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Spells at 100% against Farcaster's 50%. Spells also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 16) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Farcaster's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Farcaster sells 16 one-off in-app purchases. Spells asks for nothing beyond the download.

Spells holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Farcaster has 1.1K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of Farcaster's written reviews are positive against 100% of Spells's.

Farcaster ships an update every 5 days, Spells weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
