# Discreet vs Local Video

The clearest difference is rating: Local Video at 5.0 against Discreet's 4.4. Local Video also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). Discreet's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 4). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Discreet sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Local Video sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Local Video holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Discreet has 2.1K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Discreet's written reviews are positive against 50% of Local Video's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Discreet ships an update every 5 weeks, Local Video fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 27, 2026.
