# Discreet vs Black Screen Camera

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Black Screen Camera at 100% against Discreet's 55%. Black Screen Camera also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1). Discreet's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 3.5) and ratings volume (2.1K vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Discreet sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Black Screen Camera asks for nothing beyond the download.

Discreet holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Discreet has 2.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Discreet's written reviews are positive against 100% of Black Screen Camera's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Discreet ships an update every 5 weeks, Black Screen Camera every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
