# SMS Spam Filter vs Simply Filter SMS

The clearest difference is rating: Simply Filter SMS at 4.4 against SMS Spam Filter's 3.0. Simply Filter SMS also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 15 months) and ratings volume (70 vs 2). SMS Spam Filter's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simply Filter SMS sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. SMS Spam Filter asks for nothing beyond the download.

Simply Filter SMS holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Simply Filter SMS has 70 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of SMS Spam Filter's written reviews are positive against 81% of Simply Filter SMS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SMS Spam Filter ships an update every 15 months, Simply Filter SMS every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
