# COLON vs Gen

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: COLON at none against Gen's 1. COLON also leads on ads (none vs shown). Gen's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 29 months). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gen sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. COLON asks for nothing beyond the download.

COLON ships an update every 29 months, Gen every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
